I Woke Up This Morning And. . .
by Stephen Ames

I woke up this morning
And found out I was dead
Alarm clocks ringing
Killing the dreams in my head
Coffee maker steaming
TV heads bobbing
Kids screaming
Cars buzzing
People stocking the shelves
As for me my life is over
No role to play
I found out I was a consumer
So I threw my cancer away
Now that I'm dead
I see so clearly
That all that I loved
Was a dream they put in my head
