Golden Cage
by Nicole Terry
golden cage on a silver stage
theatres a world gone astray
guarded by soldiers dressed in black
waving banners of blue and white
they lie and wait
on an eastern desert, they play
with a people occupied at bay
and this people waits for the west
to blow them away
so the golden cage
can buy more peace and common gain
sold! an innocent nation gone
the battles wagers on
between the buyers of Babylon
and the children of truth
a war that tears the soul apart
behind mass weapons, the beast hides
while an arrogant empire, glimmers inside
a new order on the rise
its her childrens’ belief and their faith
in her smoke and mirrored fate
now we run, but we’re safe
the force of one Will, she’ll die
the golden cage on a silver stage
fuelled by the power of its slave
we know will soon annihilate
when no more gold on an empty stage
the age of Ignorance eliminates
finally, true Liberty can stay
