A Not So Difficult American Riddle
by Nicole Terry
though IT tries to confuse you
in ITs world it's live by ITs rules
moral standards for your mind to choose
choose well because you will be tested for ever
fit into ITs mold and ITs got you
you must think as IT will have you do
IT’s crazy but still IT is not enough
those headaches you feel are mtv madness
I bet you like those videos:
perfect little handsome commercial products
buy and sell your persona and soul
are you aware how much you are told
by puppet wizards with hands in their butts
here gold is measured in countries
dollars are valued in golden nations
somehow the debt keeps amounting
and the news reports the people agree
their servitude for the progression of public apathy
black white brown yellow ITs all obscene
you don't care you play your role
compete for your right to be civil
you've assumed your evil as living
and convinced you're the master gene
instead you're merely encoded
in the equation program called H.U.M.A.N.I.T.Y.
you're not as great as you seem
you're a typical robot spitting out mp3s
with the ringing of your labor bell
the ring around your boxed-in self
the spinning of your carousel
powered by a mass of imbeciles
marching to the piped in spell
you've driven the rest of us into consumption hell.
can not one of you get IT right?
